The Greenstone Health Centre, Whitehorse, Yukon is designed to provide Specialist Medical and Laboratory Services to residents and international visitors in the Yukon and international clients including Alaska.
The Director, Dr. Andrew Kaegi MD, FRCP(C), FRACP, Specialist in Clinical and Laboratory Hematology and Internal Medicine has over 30 years of clinical experience, and has practiced for the last four years in the Yukon.
Current Practice Focus
Hematologic aspects in systemic disease: Connective tissue disorders, gastrointestinal and endocrine disorders often present with anemia, leukopenia, bruising and thrombosis. Pregnancy associated anemia, neutrophilia and thrombosis.
Hematologic disorders: anemia, thrombocytopenia, bleeding and thrombotic disorders, anticoagulation difficulties, iron storage disorders, and hematologic malignancies.
Diseases unique to the North: – Bacterial and parasitic infections arising from marine and inland animals commonly present with eosinophilia, neutrophilia, malabsorption, food allergies, and reactive arthritis. Autoimmune diseases of muscle and liver, as well as atypical reactions to some medications (e.g. rash with anticoagulants) are more common in some First Nation groups.
